The Nigeria Police Force has intensified security operations across several states, recording arrests, firearm recoveries, a foiled kidnapping attempt and the rescue of victims, while continuing searches for abducted and missing persons in other locations.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in the State-by-State Executive Summary of police operational successes for September 27, 2026, covering incidents recorded between September 23 and 27.
In Katsina State, police tactical teams foiled an attempted kidnapping at Sabon Gari Maikomo Village after engaging suspected bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to flee into the bush. An injured victim was evacuated to a General Hospital for treatment.
Benue State also recorded the arrest of two suspects following a distress call over individuals allegedly brandishing a firearm during a youth executive election meeting. A locally fabricated pistol was recovered from them.
In Ebonyi, two suspects linked to the alleged abduction and sexual assault of two female victims were arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department alongside the victims and case file for further investigation.
Oyo State recorded three separate police operations, including the arrest of a suspect during stop-and-search operations along the Ibadan-Ife Expressway, where a locally made pistol and one live cartridge were recovered.
Two other suspects were arrested along the Igboora-Eruwa Expressway over suspected electrical cable vandalism, with aluminium conductor wire recovered. Another suspect was arrested in connection with an attempted murder case at Balose Village, while the injured victim was taken to Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.
In Kano State, police patrol operatives rescued an Assistant Superintendent of Police following a mob attack at Kofar Mata. The officer was evacuated for medical attention, while police said normalcy had been restored and the area placed under close monitoring.
Meanwhile, rescue and tracking operations remained active in several states.
In Kebbi, police tactical units and vigilantes launched manhunt and bush-combing operations following an attack at Dadin Kowa Village, with efforts focused on rescuing abducted victims and apprehending the perpetrators.
Kwara State recorded two separate operations involving abducted and missing persons. Police, vigilantes and forest guards were searching for an abducted victim following an incident on September 24, while a joint team of police, military personnel and local vigilantes was conducting bush-combing operations along the Eruku/Koro Road to locate seven missing persons.
In Enugu State, the Police Vehicle and Crime Response Unit was deployed following the abduction of a female victim, with tracking and bush-combing operations continuing.
Anambra State also commenced a search operation for six abducted persons, with police and other security personnel conducting bush-combing operations to locate the victims and apprehend the suspects.
In Kogi State, four kidnapped victims escaped from their captors, prompting police and joint security forces to commence bush-combing and clearance operations in the area.
Niger State similarly recorded the deployment of combined police, military and vigilante teams to Saminaka Village following a reported terrorist attack, with security personnel currently tracking the perpetrators.
In Bayelsa State, search-and-rescue operations were ongoing following a boat mishap at Oporoma River.
The Force said the various incidents remained under investigation by the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments, while operational teams continued efforts to rescue victims, apprehend suspects and maintain security in affected communities.
