Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening exercise as a smooth and routine process that reflects the strong relationship between the party’s leadership and its serving governors.
Speaking to journalists after his screening in Abuja, Governor Eno said he was satisfied with the exercise and commended the APC National Working Committee (NWC) for fostering unity within the ruling party.
“It was perfect, and I think it is a normal procedure. I’m satisfied, and I thank the National Working Committee and its chairman. It brings synergy between the sitting governors and the National Working Committee,” he said.
The governor noted that the process demonstrated that APC governors remain aligned with the party leadership.
“There is no sitting governor who is not in sync with the National Working Committee. This exercise consolidates that and shows there is a flow between us as progressives,” Eno stated.
On the outlook for the 2027 elections, Governor Eno expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, saying the administration’s reforms are beginning to produce visible results.
“Things are difficult, we must admit, but it is improving from where this President took over. There is a pathway, and there is light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
He added that Nigerians recognize the need for Tinubu to secure a second term to consolidate ongoing reforms.
Looking ahead to his own second-term agenda in Akwa Ibom, Eno said his administration would focus on completing projects initiated under the ARISE Agenda and transition to “ARISE Agenda 2.0.”
“God willing, we will tidy up all the work we have done and position our state properly for tourism, which is an alternative to oil,” he said.
According to the governor, priority areas will include tourism, agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure and efforts to boost internally generated revenue.
“We will continue to put our people on the path of growth and success,” Eno added.
