The Nigeria Democratic Congress has announced the composition of a 17-member Screening Committee to vet aspirants seeking the party’s tickets for the Presidency, Governorship, Senate and House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement signed by the National Secretary of the party, Barr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the NDC said the committee will be inaugurated at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
The statement added that former Ebonyi State Governor and ex-Senator, Sam Egwu, will serve as Chairman of the committee, while the party’s National Legal Adviser, Barr. Reuben Egwuaba, will act as Secretary.
The committee, according to the statement, is made up of party leaders, seasoned professionals and members of the National Working Committee.

The party said the committee is expected to ensure a transparent and credible screening exercise for all aspirants seeking elective offices on the platform of the NDC.
