Outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has described the newly commissioned Is-haq Oloyede JAMB Mega Professional Registration Centre in Maiduguri as a major milestone that will improve access to tertiary admissions for candidates across Nigeria’s North-East.
Oloyede made the remarks on Wednesday during the commissioning of the ultra-modern facility donated by the Borno State Government, according to a statement signed by JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.
The outgoing registrar expressed profound appreciation to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for what he described as a monumental investment in education, saying the facility would address the challenges faced by admission seekers in the region by providing world-class Computer-Based Test (CBT) infrastructure.
He commended the governor’s unwavering commitment to educational development, describing Borno State’s support for JAMB as exceptional.
Oloyede also disclosed that members of the JAMB delegation visited some of the smart schools established by the Borno State Government and were impressed by the administration’s determination to make education the cornerstone of its development agenda.
The newly commissioned centre sits on a 5,300-square-metre site and comprises two CBT halls equipped with 550 computers, enabling it to accommodate 500 candidates per examination session and up to 2,000 candidates daily. It also features registration halls, conference rooms, waiting areas, offices and other modern facilities powered by a dedicated 300kVA transformer.
The incoming JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, also lauded Governor Zulum for the strong partnership between the state government and JAMB, expressing optimism that sustained collaboration would further enhance the Board’s operations and educational development.
Governor Zulum, in his remarks, said the Borno State Government invested over ₦1 billion in the project, maintaining that education remains the most effective tool for tackling the state’s social and economic challenges.
The foundation for the mega CBT centre was laid by the governor on February 24, 2026, and completed in less than six months, ahead of schedule.
