The Nigeria Police Force has reassigned public relations officers to key commands and formations, in a move aimed at strengthening communication with the public, improving media relations and ensuring timely access to credible information on police activities.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, approved the new postings to enhance strategic communication and promote transparency in police operations.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, October 9, 2026, in Abuja.
Under the new arrangement, SP Johnson A. Doghudje has been posted as Police Public Relations Officer for Zone 5, while SP Ojedele Olanrewaju Tunji will serve in Zone 11, Osogbo.
Similarly, DSP Orchia Adndongu has been assigned to the Benue State Police Command, while DSP Imah Unwana Victor will serve at the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre.
The postings also include ASP Abdulaziz Maharazu, who has been deployed to the Police Academy, POLAC, and ASP Yusuf Adamu Aliyu, who will serve at the Yobe State Police Command.
In addition, ASP Haruna Rashid Umar Abdullahi has been appointed Public Relations Liaison Officer for the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Gombe State.
Charging the officers on their new assignments, Disu urged them to maintain professionalism, accuracy and responsiveness in communicating police activities to the public.
He emphasised the importance of disseminating timely and verified information while sustaining constructive engagement with journalists, members of the public and other stakeholders.
The statement encouraged media practitioners and members of the public to contact the newly posted officers for verified information and enquiries concerning police activities within their respective areas of responsibility.
The development places renewed emphasis on the role of police communication officers in bridging the information gap between law enforcement authorities and the communities they serve.
The Force reiterated its commitment to transparency, effective public communication and constructive engagement as essential elements of people-centred policing.
