The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has clarified that candidates who are currently seeing the message “No Result Yet” while checking their 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results may fall under the category of underage candidates whose results have not been released.
The board said it has received numerous enquiries from parents and guardians seeking explanations about the status displayed on the result portal.
In a statement issued by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, the board explained that the results of candidates who do not meet the minimum age requirement for the examination are being withheld for now.
According to the board, regulations stipulate that candidates must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, to qualify to register and sit for the UTME.
Benjamin, however, noted that an exception exists for exceptionally gifted candidates who demonstrate outstanding academic ability.
Under this provision, underage candidates may only be considered if they score 320 and above in the UTME and subsequently achieve at least 80 per cent in the additional screening stages designed for the exceptional category.
He explained that the arrangement followed an agreement reached between the board and parents of the underage candidates before the examination.
“In line with the agreement endorsed by the parents, only candidates who score 320 and above will be shortlisted and invited to proceed to the next stages of the screening process,” he said.
Benjamin added that candidates who successfully pass the additional screening stages may then be considered for admission under the exceptional candidates category.
The JAMB spokesperson emphasised that, for now, the results of all underage candidates remain withheld, which is why the system continues to display the “No Result Yet” message when they attempt to check their scores.
The board urged parents and candidates to remain calm and await further updates as the screening process progresses.
