President of the Senate, Godswill Obot Akpabio, has pledged support for initiatives aimed at empowering Northern youths through education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and economic opportunities.
Akpabio gave the assurance in Abuja while receiving the Par-Excellence Award from the Arewa Revival Project (ARP), in recognition of his leadership and contributions to Nigeria’s democratic and legislative development.
The award was presented on behalf of the organisation by its Project Coordinator, Hon. Muttaka Ahmed Ibrahim, who highlighted the importance of recognising public service and promoting leadership that advances national unity, peace and development.
In his response, the Senate President expressed appreciation to the organisation for the honour, describing it as an encouragement to sustain efforts towards national unity, stability and progress.
He stressed the need to provide young people, particularly those in Northern Nigeria, with meaningful opportunities to participate in national development through education, vocational training, entrepreneurship and economic inclusion.
Akpabio also called for stronger collaboration among the Federal Government, state governments, community leaders and youth organisations to address challenges confronting young people and expand opportunities for their advancement.
He noted that investing in youth development was essential to promoting peace, addressing insecurity and achieving sustainable national growth.
The Senate President further urged Nigerians, particularly stakeholders in Northern Nigeria, to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration, including its re-election bid, saying collective backing for the administration’s programmes would help advance its development agenda.
The Arewa Revival Project said the recognition reflected its commitment to promoting responsible leadership, national cohesion and stronger cooperation among communities across the country.
The organisation congratulated Akpabio on the award, expressing hope that the recognition would further encourage collaboration towards building a peaceful, inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.
