The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Alhaja Sidikat Basiru, mother of the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, describing her as a woman whose life of faith, sacrifice and moral uprightness left an enduring legacy.
Alhaja Basiru died at the age of 92, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
The ruling party said the late matriarch was a devout Muslim, compassionate mother and respected family figure who dedicated her life to raising her children on the values of discipline, good character and the fear of Almighty Allah.
The APC noted that her exemplary virtues, wisdom and religious devotion were reflected in the public service record of Senator Basiru and his siblings, whom she nurtured with love and commitment.
On behalf of the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the National Working Committee, party leaders, members and supporters, the party extended its heartfelt condolences to Senator Basiru and the entire Basiru family over the loss.
The party prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, accept her righteous deeds and grant her eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus, while urging the bereaved family to find strength and comfort in the lasting impact of her life and legacy.
