The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reaffirmed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is fully prepared for its 8th National Convention scheduled to begin this weekend in Abuja.
Speaking during a world media briefing on Thursday in the nation’s capital, Idris said all necessary arrangements have been concluded to ensure a smooth, transparent and credible convention.
He explained that the theme of the gathering , “Unity in Progress, Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda” , underscores the ruling party’s commitment to unity, continuity and national development.
According to the minister, the convention also reflects the APC’s effort to align its internal party structures with the broader governance agenda of the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Idris noted that the party has consistently demonstrated political maturity and resilience in managing leadership transitions, describing the upcoming convention as another important test of its democratic credentials and organisational discipline.
He added that the gathering would also serve as a platform to highlight the achievements of the Tinubu administration and deepen the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda within the party’s framework.
The minister assured Nigerians and the international community that the exercise would be conducted in line with high democratic standards, stressing that the APC remains committed to unity, inclusiveness and purposeful leadership.
According to him, more than 8,000 delegates from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are expected to attend the convention for policy deliberations, leadership elections and the emergence of new party executives.
The convention will take place at the Eagle Square from Friday, March 27 to Saturday, March 28, 2026, with party leaders expressing confidence that the event will be peaceful and successful.
