The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified preparations for the August 15 Osun State governorship election, directing members of its National Campaign Council to focus all efforts on securing victory for the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).
The directive was issued on Monday during the inaugural meeting of the APC National Campaign Council in Abuja, where the Chairman of the Council and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, charged members to prioritise strategy and service over ceremony.
Addressing members, Uzodimma stressed that the meeting was convened to mobilise the party’s campaign machinery rather than for social engagements.
“The plan is to go and support our brothers and sisters in Osun State to win the forthcoming election. This meeting is not for merrymaking or jamboree. It is for people to come and offer service,” he said.
He instructed all campaign subcommittees to meet immediately and submit practical proposals to the council’s National Secretary before Thursday, saying every recommendation must be directed toward achieving victory at the polls.
“We have only one mission—to win the election. Everything else can come after the elections,” Uzodimma declared.
The governor also mandated the finance subcommittee to coordinate voluntary contributions from party members and supporters willing to support the campaign, while noting that there was no need for formal introductions since members were already known within the party.
Speaking after the meeting, Deputy Senate President and Secretary of the Campaign Council, Senator Barau Jibrin, described the session as productive and said it reaffirmed the party’s determination to reclaim Osun State.
According to him, the meeting, held at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, was attended by members of the Campaign Council and its various subcommittees.
Barau expressed confidence that the APC would emerge victorious in the governorship election, citing what he described as growing support for the party and its candidate across the state.
“With the overwhelming support of the good people of Osun State across all 30 local government areas, we are confident that, by the grace of God, our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), will emerge victorious in the governorship election scheduled for August 15 by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” he said.
He also thanked residents of Osun State for their support and confidence in the APC, expressing optimism that the party would secure victory at the polls.
The meeting marks the formal commencement of the APC National Campaign Council’s activities as the party intensifies efforts to unseat the incumbent administration in the forthcoming governorship election.
