The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Henry Seriake Dickson, will on Monday inaugurate the party’s 21-member Selection Committee and later host screened aspirants and stakeholders to a special dinner in Abuja as part of preparations for the forthcoming general elections.
The party disclosed this in separate statements signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., and National Secretary, Barr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu.
According to the statement, the inauguration ceremony for the Selection Committee is scheduled to hold at 4:00 p.m. at the NDC National Secretariat on May 25, 2026.
The committee, constituted after the completion of the screening of governorship, National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly aspirants, is expected to review and scrutinize reports and recommendations submitted by both the National Screening Committee and the State Houses of Assembly Screening Committees before taking final decisions on the screening outcomes of aspirants.
The Selection Committee will be chaired by the NDC National Chairman, Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe.
The party said the committee was established in line with its commitment to transparency, internal democracy and credible candidate selection ahead of the elections.
Meanwhile, the NDC National Leader is also expected to host the party’s inaugural Aspirants Dinner later in the evening at the A Class Event Center, Kashim Ibrahim Way, Maitama/Wuse 2, Abuja.
The dinner, billed for 6:00 p.m., will bring together screened aspirants and selected stakeholders of the party.
In the statement signed by Enekweizu, the party said the event was aimed at appreciating members and stakeholders who have continued to support and expand the NDC across Nigeria and in the Diaspora.
“It is part of our vision of making the NDC one true united and closely knit family, where everyone is important,” the statement quoted the party scribe as saying.
The party added that attendance at the dinner is strictly by invitation.
