President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerians to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, tolerance, and unity as Muslims across the country and the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
Akpabio, in a goodwill message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Muslim faithful on the occasion of the sacred festival.
The Senate President said Eid-el-Kabir serves as a reminder of the unwavering faith, obedience, and sacrifice demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, stressing that such virtues are critical to Nigeria’s journey towards peace, stability, and national renewal.
“This sacred occasion reminds us of Prophet Ibrahim’s faith, obedience, and willingness to sacrifice in submission to Almighty Allah. These timeless values of devotion, selflessness, and compassion are virtues our nation greatly needs at this critical time,” Akpabio stated.
He urged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the country, especially for peace, security, and economic prosperity, while also remembering security personnel making sacrifices to keep the nation safe.
Akpabio noted that Nigeria is passing through a defining moment that requires patience, resilience, and collective responsibility from citizens, adding that the sacrifices made today would shape a better future for generations to come.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration, with the support of the National Assembly, is built on the principle of shared sacrifice for sustainable progress and national development.
He further encouraged Nigerians to extend love and support to the less privileged and promote peaceful coexistence irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.
“Let us continue to choose unity over division, hope over despair, and faith over fear. As we celebrate, may Almighty Allah accept our prayers and sacrifices, heal our land, guide our leaders, and bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
The Senate President wished Muslims across the country a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
