The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has released the full list of members of its Electoral Committees for the conduct of the 2027 Presidential, Governorship, National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly primaries across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while reaffirming that the nationwide exercise will hold on May 29, 2026.
The party said the adjustment in activities became necessary following the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, which created major transportation and logistical challenges, including the non-availability of flights, leaving many aspirants and screening officials stranded in Abuja after the screening exercise.
In separate statements signed by the National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe, and the National Secretary, Barr. Ikenna Alex-Morgan Enekweizu, the party explained that May 28 would now be reserved for arrivals, documentation with INEC and security agencies, consultative meetings and other preparatory engagements ahead of the primaries on May 29.
According to the party, the electoral committees comprise chairmen, secretaries and members assigned to oversee the primaries in their respective states across the six geopolitical zones.
Among those appointed are Prof. Osita Ogbu for Anambra State, Chief Teddy Obey for Enugu State, Dr. Clement Agiangie for Akwa Ibom State, Alhaji Sidi Abdul Bomi for Lagos State, CP Ezebuike Peter (Rtd) for Kogi State, Chief Barnabas J. Ejisi for the FCT, Mainasara Sani Abubakar for Kano State and Bashar Muhammed Marafa for Zamfara State, among others.
The party stated that the committees would engage stakeholders, party elders and aspirants in their various states on May 28 before the commencement of the primaries the following day.
The NDC further clarified that no security agency or government institution, including the Police, INEC and DSS, is expected to participate in any activities scheduled for May 28, warning that any action outside the approved guidelines would be considered unauthorized and illegal.
It added that the primaries would follow a sequence beginning with Presidential affirmation, followed by National Assembly, State Assembly and Governorship primaries and affirmations.
The party also emphasized that only the National Working Committee at the national headquarters has the authority to announce results after collation and processing from the states.
“No state executive or team has the mandate to announce any results,” the statement stressed.
The NDC leadership reaffirmed its commitment to transparent, peaceful and credible primaries, while calling on aspirants, delegates and party faithful to conduct themselves responsibly throughout the exercise.
The party maintained that it has zero tolerance for violence, disorderly conduct and hooliganism during the primaries.
