OK Movement urges EFCC to investigate Natasha’s cash empowerment exercise

The OK Movement has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the reported cash empowerment exercise by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, expressing concerns over its possible implications for electoral integrity.

The National Director General of the Movement, Hon. John Ozyl Ughulu, made the call in a statement condemning the exercise, which he described as an apparent case of vote-buying and an attempt to compromise the democratic choices of citizens.

Ughulu urged the anti-graft agency to examine the circumstances surrounding the exercise and prosecute those responsible if evidence of wrongdoing is established.

He described the development as embarrassing to the Nigerian Senate, stressing that elected public officials must regard public office as a position of responsibility rather than an avenue for influencing electoral decisions through financial inducements.

The OK Movement said it would not remain silent over practices it considers detrimental to democratic values, adding that it would mobilise legitimate political resources to campaign against Senator Natasha’s return to the Senate.

According to the statement, Nigeria needs leaders who demonstrate accountability, integrity and competence, rather than relying on financial inducements to secure public support.
