The growing political relevance of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) received a major boost on Monday as the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) identified the party as one of the emerging forces shaping Nigeria’s democratic future.
The endorsement came during a courtesy visit by a PANDEF delegation, led by its National Chairman, Ambassador Dr. Boladei Igali, to the Abuja residence of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, National Leader of the NDC.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Ambassador Igali described the NDC as a fast-growing national movement that has gained considerable attention across the country, noting that its emergence has enriched Nigeria’s democratic space by offering citizens an alternative political platform.
According to him, PANDEF recognizes the increasing acceptance of the party among Nigerians and views its development as a positive contribution to democratic participation and political inclusion.
He explained that the visit was part of the forum’s ongoing nationwide consultations with political parties and influential stakeholders aimed at advancing discussions on issues affecting the Niger Delta region and the broader Nigerian federation.
Ambassador Igali stated that PANDEF has maintained active engagement with several political leaders and organizations across the country as part of efforts to promote dialogue, national cohesion, peace, and sustainable development.
He emphasized that collaboration among political institutions, regional bodies, and public leaders remains critical to addressing the nation’s challenges and delivering meaningful progress to citizens.
The PANDEF Chairman further congratulated Senator Dickson for what he described as the courage and foresight demonstrated in establishing a political platform with national appeal. He also extended goodwill to the leadership of the NDC, including its National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee, and supporters nationwide.
He expressed optimism that constructive engagement between political actors and regional advocacy groups would continue to strengthen democratic governance and contribute to national development.
The visit underscored PANDEF’s commitment to fostering dialogue with political institutions while ensuring that the interests of the Niger Delta remain part of broader conversations on Nigeria’s future.
Among members of the PANDEF delegation were Deputy National Chairman, Hon. Bassey Nyong Ekefre, and National Treasurer, Mrs. Ifeoma Onyeoma Agbomah.
