The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has appointed CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force, entrusting the experienced officer with the responsibility of managing the Force’s public communication and media relations.
The appointment, approved by the Inspector-General, is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen strategic communication and deepen public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
A native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, CSP Iniedu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo and has received extensive professional training in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, intelligence analysis, human rights-based policing, and strategic communication.
Before his latest appointment, he headed the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he spearheaded initiatives aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and public trust in the Police. He had earlier served as Public Relations Officer of the Police College of Information Technology, Kobape, Ogun State.
Throughout his career, CSP Iniedu has held several operational and administrative positions across the country, including Operations Officer at Maisandari Division in Yobe State, Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command in Abia State, Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Force Headquarters, Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa, and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room, where he supervised the coordination and dissemination of crime and security information nationwide.
Expressing confidence in the new spokesman’s abilities, IGP Disu said CSP Iniedu’s wealth of experience and professional background would further enhance the Force’s communication strategy and strengthen engagement with citizens in support of ongoing policing reforms and operational successes.
