The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has felicitated fathers across Nigeria on the occasion of Father’s Day, describing them as indispensable pillars of family unity, social stability, and national development.
Speaking on behalf of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, the IGP commended fathers for their sacrifices, dedication, and leadership in raising responsible citizens and strengthening the moral foundations necessary for a peaceful and prosperous society.
According to him, fathers play a vital role in nurturing children, promoting sound values, and instilling discipline, integrity, hard work, and patriotism—qualities essential for nation-building. He noted that the daily sacrifices made by fathers in providing guidance, protection, and support continue to reinforce the social fabric and contribute immensely to national progress.
IGP Disu particularly paid tribute to police officers who, despite the demanding nature of their duties, remain devoted fathers and role models. He acknowledged the sacrifices of personnel who often spend long hours away from their families in service to the nation while maintaining their responsibilities as parents and guardians.
As Nigerians mark this year’s Father’s Day, the police chief wished all fathers good health, strength, wisdom, and fulfilment. He also called on citizens to honour and appreciate the enduring contributions of fathers whose commitment continues to foster a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Nigeria.
The Nigeria Police Force, he reaffirmed, remains committed to protecting lives and property, strengthening community partnerships, and supporting initiatives that promote family values, social cohesion, and national development.
