The Nigeria Police Force has reported the recovery of 159 electric detonators, the rescue of five victims and several arrests in separate security operations across seven states.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, in a state-by-state executive summary of police operational successes for October 2, 2026, security operatives also repelled suspected terrorist attacks in Adamawa and recovered a dead terrorist following an attack on a military formation in Garkida.

In Katsina State, police tactical teams foiled an attempted kidnapping along the Funtua-Zaria Highway and rescued four victims who were found in a white truck. The suspects reportedly fled into the bush following an exchange with the operatives.

In a separate operation in the state, Safer Highway Patrol operatives intercepted a Toyota bus along the Daura-Kongolam-Maiadua Road and arrested a suspect in possession of 159 electric detonators suspected to be components of improvised explosive devices.

The Force said the arrests and recovery underscored the importance of intelligence-led stop-and-search operations along major highways.

In Adamawa, combined security teams repelled an attempted terrorist attack on Dabna Village without casualties among police personnel, while normalcy was restored to the area.

Troops also repelled another attack on 226 Battalion, Garkida, during which one dead terrorist was recovered, with fleeing insurgents pursued.

Meanwhile, police operatives in Anambra rescued a victim who was allegedly overpowered by suspected cult gang members along Ifite Road. A tricycle allegedly used by the suspects was recovered, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

In Sokoto State, police arrested a suspected armed bandit at Tangaza Market and recovered a stolen goat, which was subsequently identified by its owner.

Police also recovered a locally made cut-to-size firearm concealed in a banana plantation near a canal at Ijako, Ogun State.

In Taraba State, four suspects were arrested over alleged illegal mining activities at Timan Mountain, with mining implements and other exhibits recovered.
