The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a series of operational successes across 10 states, including the rescue of an abducted victim in Kogi, recovery of firearms and ammunition in Nasarawa, and the disruption of an alleged vandalisation operation in Imo State.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, disclosed this in the State-by-State Executive Summary of Police operational successes for September 28, 2026, detailing arrests, recoveries, rescue operations and ongoing investigations across the affected states.
In Kogi State, joint security forces rescued an abducted male victim unhurt following sustained bush-combing and rescue operations. The abductors reportedly fled into the forest after security personnel deployed teargas, while clearance operations continued around identified blackspots to apprehend the perpetrators.
The Police also reported a major recovery in Nasarawa State, where an intelligence-led operation led to the arrest of a suspect allegedly linked to unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. A locally made revolver pistol and two live rounds were recovered.
In a separate incident in the state, Police operatives recovered another locally made pistol, one live round and two empty shells during investigations into a fatal road accident. The vehicle involved was impounded for further investigation.
In Taraba State, Police responded to a violent disturbance at UMCN Church, Kwanti Gana, where a mob was dispersed and calm restored. One suspect was arrested with a knife and hammer, while a follow-up operation led to the arrest of another suspect identified by the Police as a principal mastermind of the attack.
Delta State recorded multiple operations, including a response to an abduction at Owen Village, Ughelli, where an injured victim was evacuated to hospital and a motorcycle recovered. Bush-combing operations were still ongoing to rescue the abducted victim and apprehend the perpetrators.
In another Delta operation, Police arrested a driver following a fatal road traffic accident at Hausa Market, Okpanam, while detectives separately arrested a suspect in connection with a stabbing incident in the area.
In Anambra State, Police operatives recovered a stolen Toyota RAV4 SUV after suspected hoodlums abandoned the vehicle and fled into the bush when intercepted on the strength of intelligence. Police also arrested a suspected cult member following a distress call concerning cult-related activity in Fegge, Onitsha.
The operational sweep also extended to Imo State, where Police and other security personnel disrupted an alleged vandalisation operation at the Water Board in Okigwe. The suspected vandals reportedly fled, abandoning a truck loaded with vandalised equipment, which was recovered by the Police.
In Bauchi State, Police arrested a suspect following a reported assault at Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate and recovered the weapon allegedly used in the incident as an exhibit.
Gombe State Police also arrested a suspect in connection with a violent attack at Koran Zaki Quarters, while efforts were continuing to apprehend other suspects still at large.
Meanwhile, in Akwa Ibom State, Police operatives on stop-and-search duty intercepted a suspect allegedly transporting adulterated dry gin. Five cartons containing 24 bottles each were recovered, alongside additional exhibits from the suspect’s residence.
The Force said all the cases remained under investigation by the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments, with clearance, bush-combing and follow-up operations continuing in cases where suspects remained at large.
The latest operational report highlights the Police Force’s continuing reliance on intelligence gathering, joint security operations, rapid response and targeted investigations in dealing with kidnapping, violent crime, arms possession, cult-related activities, vandalism and other offences across the country.
