The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a fresh string of operational successes across several states and the Federal Capital Territory, with officers arresting suspected criminals, recovering firearms and ammunition, rescuing a mob attack victim and retrieving stolen vehicles.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in the State-by-State Executive Summary of police operational successes recorded between August 4 and 8, 2026, noting that the operations covered Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Bauchi, Delta, Katsina, Osun, Plateau and the FCT.
In Akwa Ibom, police operatives conducting stop-and-search operations along Abak Road, Uyo, arrested a suspected cultist and recovered three live cartridges. According to the police, the suspect confessed that the ammunition was intended for use during a cult initiation ceremony.
Adamawa State recorded a major breakthrough in a murder investigation, as detectives arrested the prime suspect in the killing of a retired police inspector who had earlier been declared missing. The suspect allegedly confessed to killing his father and dumping the body in an open well. Police subsequently exhumed the decomposed remains for further investigation.
In Bauchi, a suspected kidnapper was arrested during a manhunt operation following the tracing of kidnappers’ footprints. The suspect reportedly identified another alleged accomplice, while operatives recovered a motorcycle, bulletproof vest, face mask, cash and a damaged mobile phone.
The Delta State Police Command also arrested a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate allegedly terrorising the Ologbo axis of Edo State. The suspect was apprehended at Cattle Market, Oghara, with a dagger and was reportedly identified by an alleged syndicate member already in police custody.
In the FCT, police operations produced multiple successes. Operatives responding to an armed robbery incident along Nyanya/Maraba Boundary Road arrested a suspected robber after a hot chase and recovered two cutlasses, a Fujitsu laptop, mobile phones, a power bank and other exhibits.
In another operation at Dogon Gada Village, armed robbers abandoned a black Toyota Camry during a police pursuit and escaped into a nearby bush, leaving the vehicle to be recovered intact.
Similarly, police intercepted a stolen red Volkswagen Golf Wagon along the Dei-Dei–Zuba Expressway. One suspect was arrested and allegedly confessed to stealing the vehicle alongside two accomplices. Vehicle keys, charms, spanners, a brain box and a screwdriver were recovered.
Police tactical teams in the FCT also prevented possible mob justice at Danmarna Filling Station after rescuing a suspected motorcycle snatcher from an angry mob. The suspect was taken into custody, while efforts were said to be ongoing to apprehend three other fleeing members of the alleged syndicate.
In Katsina, police operatives responding to an armed robbery along the Funtua–Tafoki Road blocked the escape route of the attackers and engaged them in a gun battle. The stolen motorcycle was recovered, while the suspects reportedly escaped with gunshot injuries.
Osun State recorded the arrest of a suspected armed robber during a joint police and community security forest-clearance operation. A locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol was recovered from the suspect.
In Plateau State, police acting on credible intelligence arrested a suspected firearms possessor in Zaramaganda Forest, Jos South Local Government Area. Operatives recovered a locally fabricated Beretta pistol, two rounds of 9mm live ammunition and two double-edged daggers, while efforts continue to apprehend other alleged members of the gang.
The Force said the suspects and recovered exhibits remain under investigation by the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments, with further arrests expected as investigations progress.
The Police Public Relations Officer reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to tackling violent crime, disrupting criminal networks and protecting lives and property across the country.
